iTero® DIGITAL IMPRESSION SYSTEM

Conventional vs Digital Impressions - Come Experience The Comfort And Convenience Of The iTero Scanner

No more goop or discomfort. Using an iTero scanner Dr. Barba can take a highly accurate digital impression. The new technology completely eliminates the tray and putty impressions where the experience is comparable to putting a large piece of gum in your mouth. The old technique is incredibly unpleasant and frequently results in taking multiple rounds of impressions that can be rejected, broken, or misplaced. The iTero scanner ensures a more accurate impression from the start, resulting in improved treatment and a more comfortable patient experience.

Digital impressions give you the ability to see your teeth instantly in 3D. The iTero scanner digitally captures the structure of the teeth and gums using the latest optical technology. Your mouth is scanned with a radiation-free laser and in as little as two to three minutes renders a digitally perfect, 3D impression of your teeth and soft tissue structures. Through digital software you’ll then be able to follow the progress of the scans including a three-dimensional model of your teeth on our computer screen.

See The Difference Computer-Aided Design And Computer-Aided Manufacturing Technology Can Make In Restorative Dentistry

The best cosmetic dentists can create customized fittings of crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and other dental restorations using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM). Valerie Barba, DDS, FAGD is a leader in restorative dentistry on the Jersey Shore. Through the CAD/CAM technology in her dental office, Dr. Barba can provide you with the most precise restorations possible.

By using CAD/CAM, Dr. Barba is able to create durable, well-fitting, individual or multiple-tooth restorations. CAD/CAM technology also delivers advantages when it comes to office visits. In just one visit you can have a beautiful, healthy smile.

ORAL CANCER SCREENING

Early Detection Is The Best Line Of Defense Against Oral Cancers And Other Concerns

Our dental spa is not only dedicated to your smile, we're also dedicated to your overall wellness. At Valerie Barba, DDS, FADG we take a holistic approach to your dental care, which includes an oral cancer screening as a part of your regular exam. Like many kinds of cancer, oral cancer can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and treated early.

We have the skills and tools to ensure that early signs and symptoms of oral cancer and precancerous conditions are identified. While these symptoms may be caused by other, less serious problems, it is very important to visit our office to rule out the possibility of oral cancer. The most common symptoms of oral cancer include:

  • Red or white spots or sores anywhere in the oral cavity
  • A sore that bleeds easily or does not heal
  • A lump, thickening, or rough spot
  • Pain, tenderness, or numbness anywhere in the mouth or on the lips
  • Difficulty chewing, swallowing, speaking, or moving the jaw or tongue

As a top dentist in NJ, Dr.Barba is trained in a simple, quick screening that involves an examination of your teeth and oral cavity as a whole, and not just your teeth, to detect cancerous and precancerous conditions. Besides a visual examination of your mouth, she will also feel the tissue of your mouth and throat to detect any abnormalities. If Dr. Barba finds an area of concern, she may perform a simple test, such as a brush biopsy, which collects cells from a suspicious lesion in the mouth to be sent to a laboratory for analysis. If this test comes back atypical or positive, she may recommend a further biopsy.

Aside from receiving an oral cancer screening during your checkup at our dental office, there are many things you can do to help prevent oral cancer.

  • The best way to prevent oral cancer is to avoid all tobacco products and only drink alcohol in moderation.
  • Maintain a healthy, balanced diet.
  • Limit your exposure to the sun and always wear UV-A/B-blocking, sun-protective lotions on your skin as well as your lips.
  • During your next appointment at our Manasquan dental office, ask Dr. Barba or a skilled member of her team to perform an oral exam. Early detection of oral cancer can improve the chance of successful treatment.
